Front anti-roll bar


To remove

(The drawings show a car fitted with the V6 engine.)


1. Open the bonnet. Lift out the engine, using special tools 83 93 977 and 83 94 769 (power unit yoke and feet).

2. Raise the car.


3. Undo the exhaust pipe and suspend it at the rear by means of steel wire.

4. Place a stand under the sub-frame.

5. Back off the two front sub-frame retaining bolts.


6. Remove the four retaining bolts and the two retaining nuts at the rear of the sub- frame.

7. Lower the sub-frame at the rear.

8. Unscrew the two nuts securing the anti-roll bar.

9. Remove the anti-roll bar's two retaining clamps.

Remove the anti-roll bar.


To fit



1. Lubricate the bushes with grease such as Molycote 33.

2. Position the anti-roll bar on the sub-frame.

3. Fit the rubber bushes on the left-hand and right-hand sides.

4. Position the retaining clamps and fit the bolts without tightening them.

5. Fit the rubber bushes and retaining nuts for the anti-roll bar.

Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.4 lbf ft)

6. Tighten the retaining bolts for the anti-roll bar clamps.

Tightening torque: 26 Nm (19.2 lbf ft)

7. Raise the sub-frame at the rear and fit the four retaining bolts and the two retaining nut. The washers on the rear retaining bolts should abut against the body.

8. Tighten the front retaining bolts.

Tightening torque: 115 Nm (84.9 lbf ft)

9. Remove the steel wire and fit the exhaust pipe in place.


10. Lower the car to the ground and remove special tools power unit yoke.
