Door frame, rear section (conv.)


1. Mount the car in an alignment bench with measuring fixture and cross-measure as necessary.

2. Remove the side panel.

3. Cut the rear section of the door frame 35 mm behind the edge of the hole. Cut carefully so that the underlying sill reinforcement is not damaged.

4. Drill out the spot welds.

5. Knock away the rear section of the door frame and align any deformed metal.

6. Roughly cut the new rear section of the door frame.

7. Put the rear section of the door frame in place and secure it with some welding clamps.

8. Put the side panel in place, close the door and check the fitting.

9. Remove the side panel and mark the cutting position.

10. Remove the rear section of the door frame and drill a hole for plug welding and cut it on the marking.

11. Grind the surfaces to be welded onto the rear section of the door frame.

12. Use a grinder to clean the areas on the body that are to be welded.

13. Apply welding primer to the surfaces which are to be spot welded or plug welded. Use Teroson Zinkspray.

14. Put the rear section of the door frame in place and secure it with some welding clamps.

15. Put the side panel in place, close the door and check the fitting.

16. Remove the side panel and spot-weld the rear section of the door frame.

17. Plug weld the door frame.

18. All-weld the joint between the rear section of the door frame and sill, also seam weld the reinforcement.

19. Grind the welds and fit the side panel.

20. Wash off surplus welding primer. Welding primer makes for poorer adhesion of paint, filler and sealant.

21. Apply primer to all surfaces that have been ground clean. Use Standox 1K Füllprimer.

22. Seal joints and metal folds with putty. Use Terostat 1K-PUR.

23. Apply anti-corrosion agent to internal surfaces after painting. Use Terotex HV 400.
