Part of inner side panel, three-door body


1. The side panel should already have been removed.

2. Mount the car on an aligning bench and realign to the correct measurements if necessary.

3. Cut the reinforcement in front of the wheel housing as shown.

4. Drill out the spot welds that secure the cut section of the reinforcement in front of the wheel housing. Grind away the seam welds in the wheel housing.

5. Cut the side panel at the B pillar as shown. Use the spare part as a template if the inner part of the B pillar is not to be replaced at the same time.

6. Drill out the spot welds securing the inner side panel.

7. Knock loose the inner side panel and realign any deformed metalwork.

8. Use a grinder to clean the areas on the spare part and body that are to be welded.

9. Apply welding primer to the surfaces which are to be spot welded. Use Teroson Zinkspray.

10. Position the spare part and fix it with the three screws as illustrated.

11. Fit the outer panel and tailgate in place and check the fit in relation to the door.

12. Remove the side panel and tailgate.

13. Spot weld the inner side panel in place.

14. Weld the joints.

15. Roughly cut the reinforcement which is to be welded in place in front of the wheel housing.

16. Fit the reinforcement in place and cut the spare part so that the joint can be butt-welded.

17. Remove the reinforcement and drill holes for plug welding.

18. Use a grinder to clean the areas on the reinforcement component and body that are to be welded.

19. Apply welding primer to the surfaces which are to be plug welded.

20. Position the reinforcement and fix it with a couple of welding clamps.

21. Plug weld the reinforcement in place in front of the wheel housing and seam weld in the wheel housing.

22. Weld the joint.

23. Grind the welds clean.

24. Wash off surplus welding primer. Welding primer makes for poorer adhesion of paint, filler and sealant.

25. Apply primer to all surfaces that have been ground clean. Use Standox 1K Füllprimer.

26. Seal joints and metal folds with putty. Use Terostat 1K-PUR.
