Adjusting windows and seals |
The soft top and doors must be adjusted correctly before the window can be adjusted. After adjusting the door window, the rear side window must also be checked.
Height
1. |
Remove the door trim.

2. |
Loosen the nut securing the stop for the window lift mechanism.
|
3. |
Adjust the height of the rear of the door window by loosening the nuts.
Tip: There is further adjustment allowance where the door window is mounted on the lift mechanism. |
Inclination
1. |
Loosen the screw at the bottom of the rear window guide. The screw is accessible through the hole in the side of the door.
|
2. |
Loosen the nut on the pin bolt in the front adjusting mechanism.
|
3. |
Adjust the inclination of the window by screwing the pin bolt in or out.
|
4. |
Tighten the nut on the pin bolt and the screw securing the rear window guide rail.
|
5. |
Adjust the rear adjustment mechanism by pulling the window to one side so that it is centred in the front guide channel.
|
6. |
Tighten the screw securing the rear window guide rail.
|
B Rear side window |
Adjust the window to the correct height with constant pressure and clearance to the door window.
The front door window must be correctly adjusted before commencing adjustment of the rear side window.
The rear side window should be 1-2 mm under the top of the front side window. The clearance between the front side window and the front of the rear side window should be approx. 8 mm.
Height
1. |
Remove the side trim and the inner sealing rail.

2. |
Loosen the screws for the window stop.
|
3. |
Adjust the window stop up/down.
|
4. |
Tighten the screws for the window stop.
|
5. |
Tip
:
If required, more adjustment allowance can be obtained by loosening the nuts securing the lift mechanism. |
6. |
Adjust the window and tighten the nuts.
|
7. |
Fit the sealing rail and side trim.
|
Lift mechanism inclination
1. |
Loosen the nuts securing the lift mechanism.
|
2. |
Adjust the window by screwing the studs in or out.
|
3. |
Tighten the nuts.
|
Window inclination
To obtain a correct fit against the door window, the inclination of the lift mechanism and door window can be adjusted.
1. |
Remove the loudspeaker and the top inner window seal. Cut a hole in the plastic.
|
2. |
Loosen the nut on the top window mounting in the lift mechanism.
|
3. |
Adjust the window with a torx driver by screwing the studs in or out.
|
4. |
Tighten the nut.
|
5. |
Apply tape over the hole in the plastic.
|
6. |
Fit the new top inner seal. Make sure the felt seal makes contact with the window when it is in its highest position.
|
7. |
Fit the loudspeaker.
|
Lengthways
1. |
Loosen the nuts securing the lift mechanism.
|
2. |
Adjust the window.
|
3. |
Tighten the nuts.
|
4. |
Adjust the side seals.
|
C Side seals |
Adjust the front and middle seals so that they seal the window as shown in the illustration.
Front seal
The front seal can be adjusted sideways and lengthways.
Sideways adjustment:
1. |
Loosen the screws and nuts securing the seal retainer.

Adjust the seal.
|
3. |
Tighten the nuts and screws.
Sideways adjustment of front retainer: |
4. |
Loosen the screw securing the retainer.

5. |
Adjust sideways and tighten the screw.

Lengthways adjustment:
1. |
Loosen the nuts securing the rubber strip.
|
2. |
Stretch the rubber strip in the retainer by moving the fastening points in the oval holes.

A new method was introduced in production from M96.
Certain M95 cars have been modified according to SI 812-1634. Lengthways adjustment is not possible without the spare parts kit concerned.
Middle seal
The middle rail seal can be adjusted sideways and lengthways. Sideways adjustment:
1. |
Loosen the nuts securing the seal retainer.

2. |
Adjust the seal.
|
3. |
Tighten the nuts.
|
Lengthways adjustment:
1. |
Loosen the nuts securing the rubber strip.
|
2. |
Stretch the rubber strip in the retainer by moving the fastening points in the oval holes.
