Second bow

Second bow

The second bow is cut in two different versions.


a. Cut to the front of the car.

If it has been cut correctly, the remainder of the end of the second bow should be 5 mm, see illustration.


b. From VIN V7008824, the bow is cut towards the rear of the car.



To remove



1. Operate the soft top to half open position.

2. Remove the retaining strip

3. Remove the front rail seal and seal retainer.

4. Detach the roof cloth from the first bow.

5. Remove the blind rivets or screws securing the front of the headlining and detach the headlining from the first bow.


6. Drill away the blind rivets securing the cables to the roof cloth.

7. Drill away the blind rivets securing the side ribbing.


8. Detach the headlining from the second bow.

9. Detach the outer roof from the second bow.

10. Remove the staples securing the cloth bands to the second bow.

11. Remove the screws securing the second bow threaded rods to the middle rails of the soft top mechanism, two on the left-hand side and one on the right.


12. Lift away the second bow.


To fit



1. Adjust the threaded rods to a length of 185.5 mm.

2. Apply threadlocker and screw the threaded rods to the middle rails of the soft top mechanism. Make sure the parts do not bind while tightening them by moving the second bow backwards and forwards.

3. Staple the cloth bands to the second bow.


4. Fasten the outer roof to the second bow and then press on the headlining.

5. Blind rivet on the side ribbing.

6. Pull out the roof cloth wires and blind rivet them.


7. Blind rivet or screw on the headlining.

8. Glue the front of the roof cloth under the first bow. Start at the corners. Use 3M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive. If refitting an old first bow, any dirt or remains of old adhesive must first be removed from the bottom of the bow.


9. Put back the front side seals of the roof.

10. Screw on the retaining strip.

11. Connect the diagnostic tool, clear any diagnostic trouble codes and then program the control module. See .
