On certain cars there is a risk that the headliner can jump over the edge of the side rail, exposing the framework of the top. This usually occurs above the driver’s or passenger’s head.
To address a customer complaint, follow the procedure on the pages that follow.
48 57 652 Guide molding, left (1 pc.)
48 57 660 Guide molding, right (1 pc.)
48 56 860 Pop rivets (4 pcs.)
48 56 878 Washer (2 pcs.)

Put the soft top in half-open position.

2.

Drill out the pop rivet on the side of the front side rail securing the elastic.
|
3.
|
Position the guide molding on the side rail and fit it with a pop rivet.
|
4.
|
Hold the guide molding parallel with the side rail (curve facing out) and mark out the hole to be drilled for the guide molding’s other pop rivet.
|
5.
|
Remove the guide molding and drill with a 3.5 mm drill.
|
6.
|
Fasten the guide molding and elastic with pop rivets 48 56 860 and washer 48 56 878.

7.
|
Repeat the procedure on the other side of the soft top.
|
8.
|
Vacuum the interior of the car to remove cuttings, etc.
