Replacement of rear door window lifts

Remove the door trim. See
Service Manual 8:2 "Interior equipment"

Remove the water barrier.
|
3.
|
Use a pair of long-nose pliers to remove the clip at the rear end of
the external window seal and then withdraw it by hand (a clip is also
fitted at the front end).

4.
|
Remove the rear guide channel retaining screw.
|
5.
|
Lower the window about 10 cm until the window retainer is visible
through the upper holes in the door on the inside.

6.
|
Use two strips of tape to fasten the window glass in the frame.
|
7.
|
Unplug the electric motor connector.
|
8.
|
Drill out the heads of the five blind rivets (8.5 mm bit).
|
9.
|
Drive the rivets out of the door panel, using a 4 mm drift. Hold the window lift
steady.
|
10.
|
Remove the window lift and motor assembly from the window retainer.
Withdraw the assembly rearwards in the door, tilt it downwards and lift
it out of the door.
Important
|
Since the window lift and window-lift motor comprise a single unit it
is not possible replace them separately.
|
|
|
Fit in reverse order.
Note

This work will be facilitated if a heavy-duty pop rivet tool is used.
