Stone-damage tape, five-door cars


To remove


1. Remove the sill moulding.

2. Unscrew the plastic nuts securing the rear sill scuff plate.

3. Detach the sill scuff plate from the weld screws and remove it.

4. Apply heat with a hot-air gun to unstick the double-sided tape. Remove the trim moulding.


5. Heat the stone damage tape, using a hot-air gun.

6. Pull off the tape.

Important

To achieve the best possible results, the stone damage tape and the body metal should be kept thoroughly clean while work is in progress.



1. Clean the paintwork with benzine or the like.

2. Remove the protective backing from the tape and spray water on the reverse side.

3. Affix the tape as follows:

Affix the tape, beginning at the bottom front corner. Then follow the edge of the wheel housing, working upwards.

Press out the water towards the corners in a lengthwise direction along the car. Be sure to squeeze out all air bubbles. Use a rubber spatula or the like.

Important

All air bubbles must be removed. If they are not, the tape could be damaged by flying stones.


4. Refit the trim moulding.

Remove the old double-sided tape.

Thoroughly clean the trim moulding and the paintwork.

Affix new double-sided tape to the trim moulding.

Press the trim moulding into the plastic fasteners in the body.

5. Refit the sill scuff plate by introducing it under the front scuff plate and then fitting it over the weld screws. Press the plastic nuts into place.


6. Refit the sill scuff plate.
