Main instrument unit

 To remove


1.Remove upper and lower steering column cowls, 3 screws.

Note

Exercise care when removing the steering column cowls. The 4 snaps holding them in place may easily break.


2.Remove the direction indicator and windscreen wiper stalk switches.

3.Remove the radio.

Note

Make a note of the radio code (if the radio is not a Saab unit).


4.Remove the SID unit.

5.Remove all switches, shiny buttons and the seat-belt warning lamp.

6.Remove the instrument plate, 9 screws.

7.Detach the instrument plate and move it outwards into the cabin area.

8.Remove the four screws securing the main instrument unit.

9.Unplug the connectors at the rear of the main instrument unit.

10.Lift out the main instrument unit.


 To fit


1.Put the main instrument unit into position.

2.Plug in the connectors at the rear of the main instrument unit.

3.Screw in the four screws securing the main instrument unit.

4.Fit the instrument plate, 9 screws.

Note

Carefully bring the instrument plate into position. It could easily be broken or bent out of shape.


5.Fit the switches, shiny buttons and the seat-belt warning lamp.

6.Fit the SID unit.

7.Fit the radio.

8.Connect the switches for the direction indicators and windscreen wipers and fit the stalks.

9.Fit the upper and lower steering column cowls.

Note

Set the clock in SID.


10.Spare parts programming must be carried out after changing the main instrument unit. Follow the instructions given in the "Programming" menu in the diagnostic tool.
