Power steering pump

 Location

Petrol engine: Direct driven from intake camshaft.

Diesel engine: Driven via a poly-V belt.

 Main task

The task of the pump is to provide power steering fluid to the power steering system at the correct flow and at the correct pressure.

 Type

Petrol engine: The pump is integrated with the power steering fluid reservoir and contains a control valve for pressure and flow control and a pressure sensor in addition to the pump element.

Diesel engine: The pump and the power steering fluid reservoir are separate. The pump contains a control valve for pressure and flow control in addition to the pump element.
