Diagnostic help
The control module calculates the ratio between input and output shaft speed. For each gear there is a definite relationship, depending on the ratio. The fault indicates a mechanical malfunction. Wear in the transmission may be the cause of abrupt shifting and an inoperative Lock-up function.
Diagnostic procedure
1 Check the fault symptom
Check the problem by driving the car following the test drive schedule, see
Test drive schedule
. Note any fault symptoms.
Are there any fault symptoms?
Continue with
Mechanic and hydraulic faults
and then with step 2.
Continue with step 2.
2 Final check
-
Clear all diagnostic trouble codes in the system.
-
Perform a driving cycle:
•
Drive the car at varying loads and engine speeds for 5 minutes.
-
Evaluate the driving cycle:
•
Make sure the trouble code has not recurred.
