Handbrake system

When the handbrake lever is pulled up, the force is transmitted via two cables to the levers. One cable runs from the handbrake lever to the right rear wheel and the other runs from the handbrake lever to the left rear wheel.

The lever forces out the brake shoes against the brake drum so that braking occurs.

When the handbrake is applied, the handbrake lamp lights up on the panel. When the handbrake is released, the return spring presses the lever, and the brake shoes return to their neutral position. For adjustment, see Adjustment of the cable adjuster .
