| 1. |
Remove the battery cover and disconnect the negative battery cable.

| 2. |
Remove the heat shield.
|
|
| 3. |
Remove the screws holding the cable duct.
|
|
| 4. |
Raise the car.
|
|
| 5. |
Remove the lower rear engine cover.
|
|
| 6. |
Remove the plastic nuts from the wheel arch liner.
|
|
| 8. |
Unplug the alternator connectors.
|
|
| 9. |
Move the cable duct aside.
|
|
| 10. |
Remove the alternator's lower retaining bolt.
|
|
| 11. |
Lower the car.
|
|
| 12. |
Remove the upper engine cover.
|
|
| 13. |
Detach the intake hose from the air filter and turbocharger.
|
|
| 14. |
Detach the crankcase ventilation hose from the camshaft cover.
|
|
| 15. |
Detach the fuel line holder from the bulkhead partition.
|
|
| 16. |
Disconnect the fuel lines; use
83 95 261 Fuel line tool
.

| 17. |
Plug the fuel lines and move them aside.
|
|
| 18. |
Remove the alternator's upper retaining bolt.
|
|
| 19. |
Lift out the alternator.
|
|
| To fit |
| 1. |
Lower the alternator into place.
|
|
| 2. |
Put the alternator's upper retaining bolt in place and fit the nut.
|
|
| 3. |
Put the alternator's lower retaining bolt in place and fit the nut.
|
|
| 4. |
Tighten the alternator's upper retaining bolt.
Tightening torque 47 Nm (35 lbf ft) |
|
| 5. |
Tighten the alternator's lower retaining bolt.
Tightening torque 47 Nm (35 lbf ft) |
|
| 6. |
Plug in the alternator connectors.
|
|
| 7. |
Insert the cable duct screws starting with the centre one.
|
|
| 8. |
Tighten the cable duct screws.
|
|
| 9. |
Fit the heat shield.
|
|
| 10. |
Fit the fuel line holder to the bulkhead partition.
|
|
| 11. |
Connect the fuel lines.
|
|
| 12. |
Fit the crankcase ventilation hose to the camshaft cover and the intake hose to the air filter.
|
|
| 13. |
Raise the car.
|

Refit the poly-V belt.
|
|||||||
| 15. |
Fit the plastic nuts on the wheel arch liner.
|
|
| 16. |
Fit the lower engine cover.
|
|
| 17. |
Lower the car.
|
|
| 18. |
Connect the negative cable of the battery.
|
|
| 19. |
Fit the battery cover.
|
|
| 20. |
