During body repairs it is extremely important that body reinforcements are not damaged. The following illustrations summarise the permitted joint locations with respect to a number of common repairs. For further information, see each respective repair procedure.

Body reinforcement must only be cut and joined if it is specifically covered in the method description. Unless otherwise stated, it is mandatory to discard and renew the damaged reinforcement component. |

Joint location, A-pillar

When cutting the A-pillar, see the following methods:
A-pillar, upper section, complete, 4D

Outer A-pillar with reinforcement, 4D

Inner, lower A-pillar with sill, 4D
The above named methods are preferred but, if so required by the damage, the A-pillar can be cut as follows: On cars with a sunroof that are cut as above, the drain pipe can be jointed with a plastic hose with an internal diameter of 10 mm. |
