Power Steering Gear Outlet and Fluid Reservoir Inlet Hose Replacement (LAU)

Place drain pans under the vehicle.
|
2.
|
Remove as much power steering fluid from the upper power steering fluid reservoir as possible.
|
|

|
Install the engine support fixture.
|
|
3.2.
|
Raise and support the vehicle.
|
|
3.3.
|
Remove the front tire and wheel assemblies.
|
|
3.4.
|
Remove the radiator air lower deflector.
|
|
3.5.
|
Remove the rear transmission mount through bolt.
|
|
3.6.
|
Use mechanics wire in order to suspend the steering gear from the powertrain.
|
|
3.7.
|
Remove the steering gear fasteners.
|

|
Loosen the hose clamp (3) and disconnect the power steering gear outlet and fluid reservoir inlet hose (2) from the lower power steering fluid reservoir (1).

6.
|
Remove the bolt (2) from the bracket on the frame near the steering gear.
|
7.
|
Disconnect the power steering gear outlet and fluid reservoir inlet hose (1) from the steering gear.
|
8.
|
Remove the bolt (3) from the bracket near the right steering gear boot.
|
9.
|
Remove the bolt (2) from the bracket on the right front corner of the frame.
|
10.
|
Use a jack in order to support the rear of the drivetrain and front suspension frame.
|
|
11.1.
|
Loosen the front frame-to-body bolts.
|
|
11.2.
|
Remove the reinforcement bolts.
|
|
11.3.
|
Remove the rear frame-to-body bolts.
|
|
11.4.
|
Lower the rear of the frame in order to access the hose on the steering gear.
|
12.
|
Compress the 2 hose clamps and disconnect the power steering gear outlet and fluid reservoir inlet hose (1) from the power steering fluid cooler inlet and outlet hose.

|
Remove the power steering gear outlet and fluid reservoir inlet hose from the vehicle.
|

|
Position the power steering gear outlet and fluid reservoir inlet hose (1) in the vehicle.
|
2.
|
Compress the 2 hose clamps and connect the power steering gear outlet and fluid reservoir inlet hose to the power steering fluid cooler inlet and outlet hose.

Connect the power steering gear outlet and fluid reservoir inlet hose (1) to the steering gear. Tighten the fitting to
34 Nm (25 lb ft)
.

4.
|
Use the jack in order to raise the rear of the drivetrain and front suspension frame.
|
|
5.1.
|
Install the rear frame-to-body bolts.
|
|
5.2.
|
Tighten the front frame-to-body bolts.
|
|
5.3.
|
Install the reinforcement bolts.
|
|
5.4.
|
Remove the mechanics wire from the steering gear.
|
7.
|
Install the bolt (2) to the bracket on the frame near the steering gear and tighten to
9 Nm (80 lb in)

8.
|
Install the bolt (2) to the bracket near the right steering gear boot and tighten to
9 Nm (80 lb in)
.
|
9.
|
Install the bolt to the bracket on the right front corner of the frame and tighten to
9 Nm (80 lb in)

11.1.
|
Install the rear transmission mount through bolt.
|
|
11.2.
|
Install the radiator air lower deflector.
|
|
11.3.
|
Install the tire and wheel assembly.
|
|
11.5.
|
Remove the engine support fixture.
|
13.
|
Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle.
|
14.
|
Remove the drain pans.
|
