To remove
1. |
Raise the car and remove the wheel.

2. |
Remove the drive shaft from the gearbox using
87 92 616 Removal tool, drive shafts
.
|
3. |
Remove the clips for the brake hose and the mountings for the ABS lead
|
4. |
Remove the bolt securing the ball joint to the steering swivel member. Pry loose and lower the suspension arm. Fixate it in position with a wooden block placed between the suspension arm and anti-roll bar.

5. |
Swing the wheel to the right to facilitate removing the drive shaft. Grab hold of the MacPherson strut and pull. The drive shaft will follow. Then lower it in front of the suspension arm.

6. |
Remove the seal using
87 92 350 Puller, drive shaft seal
and
87 91 683 Puller
,

To fit
1. |
Tap in the new seal with
83 90 122 Drift
. Lubricate the seal with gearbox oil, see
|
2. |
Insert
83 95 162 Protective sleeve, drive shafts
into the sealing ring.
|
3. |
Make sure that the drive shaft is clean and then fit the drive shaft in the tool.
|
4. |
Push in the rest of the shaft until the circlip clicks in.
|
5. |
Fit the ball joint to the steering swivel member and tighten.
Tightening torque 100 +45° (74 lbf ft)
|
6. |
Fit the brake line in the mounting on the steering swivel member and fit the clip as well as the two mountings for the ABS lead.
|
7. |
Fit the wheel and tighten the wheel bolts.
Tightening torque 110 Nm (80 lbf ft)
|
8. |
Fill oil in the gearbox to the correct level.
|
Replacement of O-ring in car |
To remove
1. |
Remove the wheel.

3. |
Remove the seal retainer.
|
4. |
Change O-ring.

To fit
1. |
Fit the seal retainer.
