To remove



1. Remove the gear lever housing, see .

2. Remove the lock plate holder.

3. Remove the spring securing the lock plate.

4. Use a screwdriver to unclip the pawl which is controlled by the ignition switch. Lift the lock plate with its bracket.

5. Remove the ignition switch connector.

6. Remove the ignition switch.


To fit



1. Fit the ignition switch.

2. Fit the ignition switch connector.

3. Insert the lock plate. Check that the lock plate's 2 mountings (rubber bushes and cones) in the housing are in place.

4. Snap the ignition switch pawl into the lock plate.

5. Put the lock plate bracket in place. Apply Loctite 242, part no. 74 96 268, to the bolts holding the lock plate bracket.

6. Fit the lock plate spring.

7. Adjust the position of the lock plate with the screw on the lock plate holder so that it is level with the lug in the gear lever housing.


Important

The deflection limiter must not be in contact with the lock plate during adjustment.


8. Fit the gear lever housing as described in .
