Fan cowling, Z19

Warning

The cooling system is under pressure. Hot coolant and steam can escape.

- Open the cap slowly to release the pressure.

- Carelessness can cause eye and burn injuries


To remove


1. Undo the cap on the expansion tank.

2. Raise the car and remove the lower engine cover and front spoiler plate.


3. Place a suitable receptacle under the car and drain the cooling system.

4. Lower the car to the floor.

5. Remove the upper engine cover and insulation.

6. Detach the coolant hose from the thermostat housing.


7. Detach the upper coolant hose from the fan cowling and move it aside.

8. Detach the upper connection of the lower radiator hose.

9. Detach the hoses from the boost pressure control valve (179a).

Important

Take care when releasing the locking mechanism on the connector so as not to damage the connector. Pull the halves straight apart to avoid bending the pins. For further information regarding connectors, refer to Connectors, handling and inspection .


10. Unplug the control valve connector.

11. Unplug the exhaust temperature sensor connector.

12. Remove the boost pressure control valve (179a) complete with mounting.

13. Unplug the radiator fan connector and move the wiring harness aside.


14. Remove the fan cowling bolts.

15. Unhook the lower catches of the fan cowling and raise the cowling slightly.

16. Move the cowling to the side and twist the corner up.



To fit


1. Lower the fan cowling.


2. Fit the bolts.


3. Reposition the wiring harness and plug in the radiator fan connector.

4. Fit the boost pressure control valve (179a) complete with mounting.


5. Plug in the exhaust gas temperature sensor connector.

Important

Take care when plugging in the connector so as not to damage or press out the pins/sleeves in the connector. For further information regarding connectors, refer to Connectors, handling and inspection .


6. Plug in the control valve connector.

7. Attach the hoses to the boost pressure control valve (179a).

8. Attach the upper connection of the lower radiator hose.

9. Secure the upper radiator hose to the fan cowling.

10. Attach the upper radiator hose to the thermostat housing.

11. Fit the insulation and upper engine cover.

12. Raise the car.

13. Check that the drain cock is closed.

14. Fit the lower engine cover.


15. Fit the front spoiler shield.

16. Lower the car to the floor.
