Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (GNE, AWD)

Preliminary Procedure

1. Remove the rear tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .

2. Remove the rear spring. Refer to Rear Spring Replacement (GNC) Rear Spring Replacement (GNE) .

3. Remove the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (J60) Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (J61, J62)

4. Remove lower fastener shock absorber. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement (GNC) Shock Absorber Replacement (GNE) .

5. Remove the outer fastener lower control arm. Refer to Rear Axle Lower Control Arm Replacement (GNC) Rear Axle Lower Control Arm Replacement (GNE) .

Drive Shaft Retaining Nut

Refer to Fastener Caution .


Procedures

1. Install the CH-49376 wrench to the wheel bearing/hub assembly and secure with lug nuts. Remove the drive shaft retaining nut. When installing, use a NEW nut.

2. Using the CH-49400 hub remover , begin to disengage the wheel drive shaft from the wheel bearing/hub assembly.


Tighten

150 Nm (110 lb ft)

Release

45 Degrees

Tighten

250 Nm (184 lb ft)

CH-49376 Wrench

CH-49400 Wheel Hub Remover


For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .

Rear Wheel Hub Fastener (Qty: 3)

Procedures

Install NEW bolts.

Tighten

90 Nm (66 lb ft) + 60 degrees + 15 degrees

Ensure the backing plate is positioned correctly during installation
