Removal Procedure |

Disable the SIR system. Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling

2. |
Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
.

3. |
Remove the rear bumper impact bar. Refer to
Rear Bumper Impact Bar Replacement
.

4. |
Visually inspect the damage. Repair as much of the damage as possible.
|
5. |
Remove the sealers and anti-corrosion materials from the repair area, as necessary. Refer to
Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair (Base)

6. |
Locate and drill out all of the necessary factory welds. |
7. |
Remove the damaged rear bumper impact bar stud plate.

Installation Procedure |
1. |
Prepare new rear bumper impact bar stud plate in the area (1).
7 x slots (8 x 24 mm / 0.3 x 0.9 in) |
2. |
Clean and prepare the attaching surfaces for welding.
|
3. |
Position the rear bumper impact bar stud plate on the vehicle.
|
4. |
Verify the fit of the rear bumper impact bar stud plate.
|
5. |
Clamp the rear bumper impact bar stud plate into position.
|
6. |
Spot weld (1) the rear bumper impact bar stud plate accordingly. |
7. |
MIG-braze the rear bumper impact bar stud plate (2). |
8. |
Grind MIG brazed seams.
|
9. |
Apply the sealers and anti-corrosion materials to the repair area, as necessary. Refer to
Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair (Base)

10. |
Install the rear bumper impact bar. Refer to

11. |
Install the negative battery cable. Refer to

Enable the SIR system. Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling
.
