Circuit/System Description

The transmission control module (TCM) continuously monitors the system voltage on the ignition and the accessory ignition circuit. Lower than normal voltage may be inadequate to operate the transmission control solenoids properly.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The engine speed is greater than 400 RPM.

Ignition voltage is between 10.2-18.0 V.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

P2534 00

The TCM detects that the ignition voltage is less than 8.6 V for 1 s.

P2537 00

The TCM detects that the accessory ignition voltage is less than 8.6 V for 1 s.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

P2534 00

DTC P2534 is a Type B DTC.

P2537 00

DTC P2537 is a Type C DTC.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

P2534 00

DTC P2534 is a Type B DTC.

P2537 00

DTC P2537 is a Type C DTC.

Circuit/System Verification

Engine running, observe the Ignition Voltage Signal parameter. The reading should be 12-15 V.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, key out, measure the battery voltage at the battery terminals. Verify the voltage is 11-13 V.

2. If not within the specified range, refer to Charging System Test .

3. Disconnect the X1 harness connector at the K71 Transmission Control Module.

4. Test for less than 5 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 9 X1 and ground.

5. If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.

6. Test for greater than 11 V between the B+ circuit terminal 1 X1 and ground.

7. If less than the specified value, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.

8. Ignition switch in the ACCESSORY position, test for greater than 11 V between the accessory ignition circuit terminal 12 X1 and ground.

9. If less than the specified value, test the accessory ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.

10. Ignition switch in the RUN position, test for greater than 11 V between the ignition circuit terminal 11 X1 and ground.

11. If less than the specified value, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.

12. If all circuits test normal, replace the K71 Transmission Control Module.
