Power Steering Pump Replacement (L4)



Callout Component Name

1. Remove the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .

2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement for 2.0L engine mechanics, or Drive Belt Replacement for 2.0L (diesel) engine mechanics, or Drive Belt Replacement (LLU/A16LET) .

3. Place drain pans under the vehicle.

4. Remove as much power steering fluid from the remote power steering fluid reservoir as possible.

5. Diesel: Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .

6. Petrol: Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement

Procedure

Install a NEW power steering gear inlet hose O-ring seal prior to installation of the hose.

Power Steering Gear Inlet Hose Retainer

Refer to Fastener Caution .

Tighten

37.5 Nm (28 lb ft)

Power Steering Pump Bolt (Qty: 3)

Tighten

21 Nm (16 lb ft)

Refer to Using Proper Power Steering Fluid Caution .


Procedure

1. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle.

2. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
