Inspection and adjustment of gear positions

Checking/adjusting transmission range

Remove the plastic plug from the gearbox and fit locking pin 87 92 335
so that 4th gear is fixed in the gearbox. The locking pin's ring should be uppermost.

Remove the gaiter on the gear lever and check that locking pin 87 92 335 can be inserted into the hole in the gear lever housing. The locking pin's ring should be down in the hole. If it is not possible to insert the locking pin, adjust the gear position. Remove the locking pins if no adjustment is to be carried out.

Remove from above the clamp which holds the gear rod in the linkage on the gearbox.

Check that the gear lever is in 4th position.

|
Insert locking pin 87 92 335
into the gear lever housing. The locking pin's ring should be down in the hole.
|
7.
|
Tighten from above the nut on the clamp which holds the gear rod in the linkage on the gearbox.
Tightening torque
21 Nm (15.5 lbf ft)

8.
|
Remove the locking pin from the gearbox and refit the plastic plug.
|
9.
|
Remove the locking pin from the gear lever housing and refit the gaiter.
|
10.
|
Test by changing gear.
