     Fault symptom
    
   
   
    No messages, or the message "OVERHEATED CLUTCH" is displayed by the SID when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position.
    
    
    
     Diagnostic procedure
    
    
     1 Check the temperature sensor
    
    
      
    
    
   
   
  
    
  
  
  
  
   
    
     
      | - | Unplug the temperature sensor's 2-pin connector (black). It is located behind the clutch actuator unit. 
 
 | 
    
   
  
  
   
    
     
      | - | Connect the Scan tool diagnostics instrument to the car's data link connector (DTC) and select "CLUTCH TEMPERATURE" in the "READ FUNCTIONS" menu of the diagnostics instrument. With the sensor's 2-pin connector open, the Scan tool diagnostics instrument should show a reading of about -40C. With the sensor's 2-pin connector short-circuited by a jumper lead connected across pins 1 and 2, the diagnostics instrument should show a reading of about +215C.
