LH front solenoid valve, faulty
Fault symptom
ABS (ANTI LOCK) warning lamp on, no ABS function.
Condition
The trouble code is generated when the ignition is switched on and the control module
performs a test of the solenoid valves. The main relay operates briefly twice and then
releases. The indicator lamp goes out briefly before it lights up and stays on.
Diagnostic procedure
1 Check the valve
-
|
Jack up the car and check the
solenoid valve for the left-hand front wheel with the ISAT scan tool command "VALVE TEST
FL" in the "ACTIVATE" menu.
|
-
|
Turn to
for a description of the ISAT scan tool's
testing procedure for the solenoid valves.
|
Test OK?
Continue with point 3.
Continue with point 2.
2 Check the resistance of the valve
-
|
Remove the cover over the control
module. Unplug the solenoid valve's 6-pin connector from the control module.
Note
|
The connector is a tight fit. Check the solenoid valve's coil by taking a resistance
reading across pins 1 and 2 of the connector. A reading of about 0.7 to 1.7 ohms should be
obtained.
|
|
Is the resistance reading OK?
Continue with point 3.
Change the hydraulic unit.
3 Final check
-
|
Clear the diagnostic trouble
code.
|
-
|
Drive the car at varying engine loads and rpm for 5 minutes.
|
-
|
Read the diagnostic trouble code.
