ABS lamp does notlight up

Symptom: The lamp test is carried out when the ignition is switched on. The ABS (ANTI LOCK) lamp should light up for about 3 seconds. The ABS (ANTI LOCK) lamp does not light up.

Fault symptom

The lamp test is carried out when the ignition is switched on. The ABS (ANTI LOCK) lamp should light up for about 3 seconds. The ABS (ANTI LOCK) lamp does not light up.

Condition

The ABS (ANTI LOCK) lamp can be activated with the ISAT scan tool. Select ”ACTIVATE”. Select ”ABS LAMP”.

Activate the ABS lamp.

Diagnostic procedure

1 Check the ABS lamp


- Unplug the control module's 25-pin connector. Ignition switch in the ON position.

- Connect a jumper lead between pin 1 of the control module connector and a good grounding point. The ABS lamp should light up.


Did the lamp light up?

yes

Check the control module connector for damp, corrosion and dislodged contact pins. Continue with point 2.


no

Check the lead between pin 1 of the ABS control module and pin 16 of the main instrument display panel. If the lead is OK, continue fault diagnosis as described in Service Manual 3:5, Electrical system, Main instrument display panel .


2 Final check




- Check that the ABS lamp lights up when the ignition is switched on.


Did the lamp light up?

yes

The diagnostic procedure carried out was correct.


no
