ABS lamp oncontinuously
Symptom: The ABS (ANTI LOCK) lamp remains on
continuously.
Fault symptom
The ABS (ANTI LOCK) lamp remains on
continuously.
Condition
Short circuit to ground in the electrical circuit.
Diagnostic procedure
1 Check the fuses
-
|
Check that fuse 19 is
intact.
|
Is fuse 19 intact?
Continue with point 2.
Change the fuse.
2 Check the ABS lamp
-
|
Unplug the control module's
25-pin connector. Ignition switch in the ON position.
|
Is the ABS lamp on?
Check the lead between pin 1 of the ABS control module and pin 16 of the
main instrument display panel. If the lead is OK, continue fault diagnosis as described in
Service Manual 3:5, Electrical system, Main instrument display panel
.
Continue with point 3.
3 Check the control module's power supply (+15
circuit)
-
|
Unplug the control module's
4-pin connector.
|
-
|
Ignition switch in the ON position. Take a voltage reading across battery positive
(B+) and pin 1 of the control module connector. A reading of <0.5 V should be
obtained.
|
Is the voltage reading OK?
Continue with point 5.
Continue with point 4.
4 Check the power supply (+15 circuit)
-
|
Check that fuse 19 receives
current (+15 circuit). Ignition switch in the ON position. Connect the test lamp to fuse 19 and a
good grounding point.
|
Does the test lamp light up?
Check the lead and connectors between fuse 19 and pin 1 (4-pin connector) of
the control module. Rectify if necessary.
Continue fault diagnosis as described in Service Manual 3:2 Electrical system,
wiring diagram, power supply.
5 Final check
-
|
Check that the ABS (ANTI LOCK)
lamp lights up when the ignition is switched on.
|
Does the ABS lamp work correctly?
The diagnostic procedure carried out was correct.
