Main motor potentiometer

To remove


1. The fifth bow and soft top cover must be in a raised position. Remove the side trim. See .

2. Remove the nuts securing the left-hand side of the soft top.


3. Lift the soft top backwards on the left-hand side and detach the potentiometer arm from the soft top mechanism.

4. Remove the screws securing the potentiometer.

5. Cut off the cable ties.

6. Unplug the electric connection, pull out the wires and lift out the potentiometer.



To fit



1. Put the potentiometer in place and position the wiring.

2. Tighten the potentiometer retaining screws.

3. Attach the potentiometer arm to the soft top mechanism.

4. Connect the wiring and secure it with a cable tie so that is will not be damaged when the soft top is operated.

5. Position the soft top mechanism using a 10 mm drill in the guide hole and tighten the retaining screws.


Tightening torque 28 Nm (20.7 lbf ft)

6. Put back the side trim. See .

7. Connect the diagnostic tool, clear any diagnostic trouble codes and then program the control module. See .
