Fault symptoms
One or more window lifts or the soft top cannot be operated.

The normal control module safety functions are disconnected when the soft top mechanism is operated with the diagnostic tool. The motors continue to run as long as the diagnostic tool activates them, irrespective of the position of the soft top, fifth bow or soft top cover. Use caution and always lower the rear seat backrest.

Diagnostic help
Check maxi fuse 5 and fuse 7 and that they are being supplied with current. The status of the switches can be read and the motors activated with the diagnostic tool.

Connect the diagnostic tool.
|

Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
|

|
Read the status of the window switches while activating them.
|
If the function is correct, the diagnostic tool should display:
If the correct values are displayed on the diagnostic tool, continue fault diagnosis with DTC 2471, for example. The motor should move when activated.
Switch 386 is supplied with +54 via fuse 7 and crimp connector J65. The unit is grounded to grounding point G14 via crimp connector J147. Check these leads.
Trouble code B1520 will be generated if there is an open circuit in the +30 supply to the control module. If any of the window lifts is activated, trouble code B2471, B2472, B2473 or B2474 will be generated.
Checking the wiring
Intermittent faults can occur during temporary short circuits and open circuits. Jiggle the wiring harness in several places and in various directions to detect problems in the wiring harness and connectors. Watch the multimeter, diagnostic tool and test lamp during the check.
Diagnostic procedure
1. Check the voltage supply to the switch unit

Unplug the switch unit.
|

Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
|

|
Connect the test lamp as follows:
|
|
•
|
between pin 10 and ground
|
|
•
|
between pin 11 and ground
|
|
•
|
between pin 16 and ground
|
The test lamp should light up.
Does the test lamp light up?
Continue with step 2.
Check and if necessary rectify the relevant lead and fuse 7.
2. Check the control module input

Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
|

Connect a jumper lead in the switch unit connector as follows:
|
|
•
|
FRONT RIGHT between pins 7 and 10 - window UP between pins 6 and 10 - window DOWN
|
|
•
|
FRONT LEFT between pins 19 and 10 - window UP between pins 18 and 10 - window DOWN
|
|
•
|
REAR RIGHT between pins 2 and 10 - window UP between pins 1 and 10 - window DOWN
|
|
•
|
REAR LEFT between pins 14 and 10 - window UP between pins 13 and 10 - window DOWN
|
|
•
|
ALL FOUR WINDOWS between pins 17 and 10 - windows UP between pins 15 and 10 - windows DOWN
|
|
•
|
SOFT TOP between pins 3 and 10 - soft top UP between pins 4 and 10 - soft top DOWN

Is the function correct?
Change the switch unit. Continue with step 3.
Check and if necessary rectify the relevant lead or MAXI fuse 5. Continue with step 3.
3. Final check
Check the function of the window lifts and soft top.
Is the function correct?
The fault has been rectified.
