Electronic Brake Control Module Replacement

Callout Component Name
Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning.

Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Caution.

Preliminary Procedure

1. With the engine OFF, apply the brake pedal several times until the brake pedal becomes firm to deplete the vacuum brake booster vacuum reserve.

2. Remove the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir, using a suitable suction device.

3. Remove the battery and tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement (Diesel) Battery Tray Replacement (LHU/A20NFT).

4. Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor electrical connector.

5. Loosen the coolant reservoir from the bracket and move aside to make space.

1

Brake Pipe Fitting (Qty: 6)

Refer to Fastener Caution.

Procedure

1. Thoroughly clean the electronic brake control module (EBCM) to brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) area of any accumulated dirt and foreign material.

2. Remove the brake pipe fittings and cap the linings to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
