ENGINE

CHECK ENGINE START FAILURE.

Ask the customer when and how trouble occurred using the interview check list.

Start the engine.

Does the engine start?

Yes


No

Inspection using “Diagnostics for Engine Start Failure”.


CHECK ILLUMINATION OF MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT.

Does the malfunction indicator light illuminate?

Yes


No

Inspection using “General Diagnostics Table”.


CHECK INDICATION OF DTC ON DISPLAY.

Turn the ignition switch to OFF.

Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Interface or OBD-II general scan tool to data link connector.

Turn the ignition switch to ON and the Vehicle Diagnostic Interface or OBD-II general scan tool switch to ON.

Read the DTC on Vehicle Diagnostic Interface or OBD-II general scan tool.

Does the Vehicle Diagnostic Interface or OBD-II general scan tool indicate DTC?

Yes

Record the DTC code. Repair the trouble cause.


No

• Repair the related parts.

Note

If a DTC is not shown on display although malfunction indicator light illuminates, perform diagnostics of malfunction indicator light circuit or combination meter.



PERFORM THE DIAGNOSIS.

Perform the inspection mode.

Does the Vehicle Diagnostic Interface or OBD-II general scan tool indicate DTC?

Yes

• Inspect using “Diagnostics Procedure with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)”.

No

Complete the diagnosis.


AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

When DTC about automatic transmission is shown on display, carry out the following basic check. After that, carry out the replacement or repair work.

ATF level check

Differential gear oil level check

ATF leak check

Differential gear oil leak check

Stall test

Line pressure test

Transfer clutch pressure test

Time lag test

Road test
