Oil sump in car Z19DTR

To remove


1. Remove Starter motor, Z19DTR

2. Remove Exhaust pipe, front .

3. Remove the following:

the screws (A) to the AC pump's bracket.


the screws (B) to the turbo's oil return pipe.

the screws (C) to the catalytic converter's lower bracket.

4. Drain the engine oil (A). Fit the oil plug with a new seal.

Tightening torque 25 Nm (18 lbf ft)


5. Man: Drain the gearbox oil (B). Fit the gearbox oil plug.

Tightening torque 50 Nm (37 lbf ft)

6. Fit Intermediate shaft, Z19

7. Remove the intermediate shaft bracket (A).


8. Detach the connector (A) to the oil level sensor.


9. Remove the crankcase ventilation hose (B) from the oil sump.

10. Remove the oil sump's screws (A).

Use 32 025 015 Extension piece Ribe M7 and 32 025 016 Extension piece Ribe M8 . Use the M7 ribe behind the flywheel/driver plate.


11. Place a screwdriver between the sump and the timing cover at the AC compressor bracket and carefully prise the oil sump loose.

12. Turn the sump ninety degrees and lift it down.


13. When replacing the oil sump: Remove the oil separator cover and the oil level sensor.


To fit


1. Clean the engine block and sump sealing surfaces. Remove any contaminants in the oil sump.

2. Apply a bead of 90 543 772 Silicone flange sealant to the oil sump sealing surface.

3. Fit the oil sump carefully so that the sealing compound is not disturbed. Tighten the side bolts using 32 025 016 Extension piece Ribe M8 . Tighten the front and rear screws with 32 025 015 Extension piece Ribe M7 .


Tightening torque, M10 bolts, 40 Nm (30 lbf ft).

Tightening torque, M8 bolts, 25 Nm (18 lbf ft).

Tightening torque, M6 bolts, 9 Nm (7 lbf ft).

4. Fit the crankcase ventilation hose (B) to the oil sump.


5. Plug in the oil level sensor connector (A).

6. Fit the intermediate shaft bracket (A).

Tightening torque 55 Nm (41 lbf ft).


7. Fit Intermediate shaft, Z19 .

8. Fit the following:

Fit the screws (C) to the catalytic converter's lower bracket.


Fit the screws (B) to the turbo's oil return pipe.

Tightening torque 25 Nm (18 lbf ft)

Fit the screws (A) to the AC pump's bracket.

9. Fit Exhaust pipe, front

Tightening torque 25 Nm (18 lbf ft)

10. Fit Starter motor, Z19DTR

11. Fill oil in the gearbox.

Man: see Filling/changing the gearbox oil

Aut: see Checking/adjusting oil level

12. Fill with engine oil as specified, see Recommended oil quality .

13. Connect an exhaust extractor and start the engine.

Switch off the engine and wait 2-5 minutes. Check the oil level and adjust if necessary.
