DTC Descriptor |
DTC C0280 54
Stability System Active Too Long High Temperature
Circuit/System Description |
The solenoid valves are integral parts of the brake pressure modulator valve assembly. The brake pressure modulator valve assembly contains an isolation solenoid valve and a dump solenoid valve for each wheel and a traction control/stability control supply solenoid valve and isolation solenoid valve for each brake circuit. The solenoid valves are not engaged during normal system operation. When the ABS, traction control or stability control operation is required the electronic brake control module (EBCM) turns the required solenoid valves ON.
Conditions for Running the DTC |
Ignition ON
Conditions for Setting the DTC |
Stability control is active for more than 15 s.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets |
• |
The traction control/stability control-active indicator turns ON.
|
• |
The EBCM disables the stability control for the duration of the ignition cycle.
|
Conditions for Clearing the DTC |
• |
The DTC is cleared when the diagnosis runs without errors
|
• |
The DTC in the history is deleted after 40 consecutive fault-free ignition cycles.
|
Diagnostic assistance |
This DTC can be generated because of extended operation of ABS, traction control or stability control.

Circuit/System Testing |
1. |
Ignition ON.
|
2. |
Confirm that DTC C0186, C018B, C0196, C019B, C0287 or C0710 are not set as active DTCs.
|
3. |
If any of the specified DTCs has been triggered:
|
4. |
Refer to
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle
.
|
5. |
If none of the specified DTCs have been triggered:
|
6. |
Switch OFF the ignition and allow the Q5 brake pressure modulation valve unit to cool to outside temperature.
|
7. |
Switch ON the ignition and check that the DTC C0280 54 is not set when the car is run under normal braking conditions.
|
8. |
If DTC is generated:
|
8.1. |
Replace the K17 electronic brake control module (EBCM).
|
8.2. |
Verify that the DTC is not set when the car is run under normal braking conditions.
|
8.3. |
If DTC is generated, replace the Q5 brake pressure modulation valve unit.
|
8.4. |
If DTC is not generated:
|
8.5. |
All OK
|
9. |
If DTC is not generated:
|
10. |
All OK
