Oil Filter Adapter Replacement

Removal Procedure


1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

2. Remove the oil filter. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .

3. Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement .

4. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .

5. Remove the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement .

6. Remove the charge air cooler outlet air tube. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube Replacement .

7. Remove the charge air cooler outlet hose. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Outlet Hose Replacement (Diesel) Charge Air Cooler Outlet Hose Replacement (LAU/A28NER) .

8. Remove the oil level indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement .

9. Remove the secondary air injection pump pipe. Refer to Secondary Air Injection Pump Pipe Replacement .

10. Remove the secondary air injection pipe. Refer to Secondary Air Injection Pipe Replacement .

11. Tie the radiator, air conditioning condenser, and fan module assembly to the upper radiator support to keep the assembly with the vehicle when both radiator support brackets are removed.

12. Disconnect 5 engine wiring harness connectors.

13. Remove the right front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .

14. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (LDK/A20NHT) and Cooling System Draining and Filling (LBS/A20DTH) Cooling System Draining and Filling (LAU/A28NER) .

15. Remove the right front wheelhouse front liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Front Liner Replacement .

16. Remove the drive belt idler pulley. Refer to Belt Idler Pulley Replacement .

17. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (LDK/A20NHT) Generator Replacement (Diesel) Generator Replacement (LAU/A28NER) .

18. Remove the engine oil cooler outlet hose fastener.

19. Remove the engine oil cooler outlet hose from the oil filter adapter.

20. Remove the engine oil cooler pipe fastener.

21. Remove the engine oil cooler pipe from the oil filter adapter.

22. Remove the radiator support bracket fasteners.


23. With the aid of an assistant, remove both radiator support brackets (1).

24. Remove the secondary air injection pump. Refer to Secondary Air Injection Pump Replacement .

Note

Do NOT remove the A/C compressor from the vehicle. Do NOT disconnect the A/C pipes from the A/C compressor.


Remove the air conditioning compressor from the air conditioning compressor bracket. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LDK/A20NHT) Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LBS/A20DTH) Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LAU/A28NER) .

26. Remove the air conditioning compressor bracket. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Bracket Replacement (LDK/A20NHT) Air Conditioning Compressor Bracket Replacement (LAU/A28NER) .

27. Disconnect the knock sensor bank 2 electrical connector.

28. Remove the turbocharger oil feed pipe from the oil filter adapter. Refer to Turbocharger Oil Feed Pipe Removal .

29. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.


30. Remove the 6 oil filter adapter fasteners (1) from the engine block.

31. Remove the oil filter adapter gasket (2).

32. Remove the oil filter adapter (3).


Installation Procedure


1. Install the NEW oil filter adapter gasket (2).


2. Install the oil filter adapter (3).

3. Refer to Fastener Caution .

Install the 6 oil filter adapter fasteners (1) to the engine block and tighten to 23 Nm (17 lb ft) .

4. Install the turbocharger oil feed pipe to the oil filter adapter. Refer to Turbocharger Oil Feed Pipe Installation .

5. Connect the knock sensor bank 2 electrical connector.

6. Install the air conditioning compressor bracket. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Bracket Replacement (LDK/A20NHT) Air Conditioning Compressor Bracket Replacement (LAU/A28NER) .

7. Install the air conditioning compressor to the air conditioning compressor bracket. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LDK/A20NHT) Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LBS/A20DTH) Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LAU/A28NER) .

8. Install the secondary air injection pump. Refer to Secondary Air Injection Pump Replacement .

9. With the aid of an assistant, install both radiator support brackets (1).


10. Install the radiator bracket fasteners and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft) .

11. Install the engine oil cooler pipe to the oil filter adapter.

12. Install the engine oil cooler pipe fastener.

13. Install the engine oil cooler outlet hose to the oil filter adapter.

14. Install the engine oil cooler outlet hose fastener.

15. Install the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (LDK/A20NHT) Generator Replacement (Diesel) Generator Replacement (LAU/A28NER) .

16. Install the drive belt idler pulley. Refer to Belt Idler Pulley Replacement .

17. Install the right front wheelhouse front liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Front Liner Replacement .

18. Install the front right wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .

19. Connect 5 engine wiring harness connectors.

20. Untie the radiator, air conditioning condenser, and fan module assembly from the upper radiator support.

21. Install the secondary air injection pipe. Refer to Secondary Air Injection Pipe Replacement .

22. Install the secondary air injection pump pipe. Refer to Secondary Air Injection Pump Pipe Replacement .

23. Install the oil level indicator tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement .

24. Install the charge air cooler outlet hose. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Outlet Hose Replacement (Diesel) Charge Air Cooler Outlet Hose Replacement (LAU/A28NER) .

25. Install the charge air cooler outlet air tube. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube Replacement .

26. Install the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement .

27. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .

28. Install the fuel injector sight shield . Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement .

29. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

30. Check and add engine oil as necessary.

31. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (LDK/A20NHT) and Cooling System Draining and Filling (LBS/A20DTH) Cooling System Draining and Filling (LAU/A28NER) .
