Radiator Replacement (Diesel)

Removal Procedure

Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning .


1. Disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (LDK/A20NHT) and Cooling System Draining and Filling (LBS/A20DTH) Cooling System Draining and Filling (LAU/A28NER) .

3. Remove the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement .

Note

Do not discharge the air conditioning system.


Release the condenser core from the charge air cooler and secure to the front bumper.

5. Detach the turbocharger actuator (1), and release the vacuum hose from the fan shroud (2).


6. Unclip the coolant hose (1) from the top of the fan shroud and place to one side for access.


7. Detach the power assisted steering fluid reservoir for access (1), and release the coolant hose from fan shroud (2).


8. Disconnect the two cooling fan electrical connectors (1) and detach the cooling fan wiring harness from the fan shroud (2).


9. Detach radiator coolant inlet hose. Refer to Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (Diesel) Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LDK/A20NHT) Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LAU/A28NER) .

10. Detach radiator coolant outlet hose. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LDK/A20NHT) Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (Diesel) Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LAU/A28NER) .

11. Remove the charge air cooler. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Radiator Replacement (LDK/A20NHT) Charge Air Cooler Radiator Replacement (Diesel) Charge Air Cooler Radiator Replacement (LAU/A28NER) .

12. Remove the radiator.


• Remove the radiator top brackets (1), and lift the radiator from the lower mounts.

• Detach the fan shroud from the radiator. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Shroud Replacement (Diesel) Engine Coolant Fan Shroud Replacement (LDK/A20NHT) Engine Coolant Fan Shroud Replacement (LAU/A28NER) .


Installation Procedure


1. Install the fan shroud assembly to the radiator. Refer to Engine Coolant Fan Shroud Replacement (Diesel) Engine Coolant Fan Shroud Replacement (LDK/A20NHT) Engine Coolant Fan Shroud Replacement (LAU/A28NER) .

2. Install the radiator into the lower radiator mounts and fasten the radiator top brackets (1).


3. Install the charge air cooler. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Radiator Replacement (LDK/A20NHT) Charge Air Cooler Radiator Replacement (Diesel) Charge Air Cooler Radiator Replacement (LAU/A28NER) .

4. Attach radiator coolant outlet hose. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LDK/A20NHT) Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (Diesel) Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LAU/A28NER) .

5. Attach radiator coolant inlet hose. Refer to Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (Diesel) Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LDK/A20NHT) Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LAU/A28NER) .

6. Connect the cooling fan electrical connectors (1) and attach the wiring harness (2).


7. Fit the Power assisted steering (PAS) reservoir (1) and attach the coolant hose to the fan shroud (2).


8. Attach the coolant hose (1) to the top of the fan shroud.


9. Fit the turbocharger wastegate actuator (1) and connect the vac hose to the fan shroud (2).


10. Install the condenser core. Refer to Air Conditioning Condenser Replacement (LDK/A20NHT) Air Conditioning Condenser Replacement (Diesel) Air Conditioning Condenser Replacement (LAU/A28NER) .

11. Install the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement .

12. Install and fill the coolant reservoir to the fill level. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (LDK/A20NHT) and Cooling System Draining and Filling (LBS/A20DTH) Cooling System Draining and Filling (LAU/A28NER) .

13. Connect the battery ground cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

14. Inspect cooling system for leaks.
