Circuit/System Description |
The turbocharger vane position sensor is mounted on the turbo charger vacuum actuator. A 5 V reference voltage and a low reference is supplied to the turbocharger vane position sensor. The sensor provides a signal to the engine control module (ECM) with the actual turbocharger control rod position.
Conditions for Running the DTC |
The ignition is ON or the engine is operating.
Conditions for Setting the DTC |
The ECM detects a short to ground or a short to Voltage for more than 1 second.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets |
DTCs P2564 and P2565 are Type A DTCs
Conditions for Clearing the DTC |
DTCs P2564 and P2565 are Type A DTCs

Circuit/System Verification |
Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Turbocharger Vane Position Sensor. The reading should be between 0.5-4.5 V and change with.
Circuit/System Testing |
1. |
Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the B112 Turbocharger Vane Position Sensor.
|
2. |
Ignition OFF, test for less than 5 Ω between the low reference circuit terminal 1 and ground.
|
3. |
If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
|
4. |
Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 V between the 5 V reference circuit terminal 3 and ground.
|
5. |
If less than the specified range, test the 5 V reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
|
6. |
If greater than the specified range, test the 5 V reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
|
7. |
Verify the scan tool Turbocharger Vane Position Sensor is less than 0.3 V.
|
8. |
If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit terminal 2 for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
|
9. |
Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 2 and the 5 V reference circuit terminal 3. Verify the scan tool Turbocharger Vane Position Sensor is greater than 4.8 V.
|
10. |
If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
|
11. |
If all circuits test normal, test or replace the B112 Turbocharger Vane Position Sensor.
|
Repair Instructions |
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
