Description

This diagnostic applies to internal microprocessor integrity conditions within the engine control module (ECM). This diagnostic also addresses if the ECM is not programmed or is programmed incorrectly.

The ECM monitors its ability to read and write to the memory. It also monitors a timing function.

Conditions for Running the DTCs

P0602, P0603, or P0604

The ignition switch is in Run or Crank.

These DTCs run once per ignition cycle.

P0605, P0606, P0610, P0614, P0630, P161C, P167A, or P2610

The ignition switch is in Run or Crank.

The system voltage is between 9-18 V.

These DTCs run continuously when the above conditions are met.

P06D1

The engine is running.

The system voltage is between 10-18 V.

DTC P06D1 runs continuously when the above conditions are met.

Conditions for Setting the DTCs

The ECM detects an internal failure or incomplete or incorrect programming for more than 10 s.

Actions Taken When the DTC Sets

DTCs P0602, P0603, P0604, P0605, P0606, P0610, P0614, P0630, P161C are Type A DTCs.

Circuit/System Verification

1. Observe the DTC Info with a scan tool. DTC P0602, P0603, P0604, P0605, P0606, P0610, P0614, P0630, P06D1, P161C, P167A or P2610 are not set.

2. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC to verify the DTC does not reset. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition ON, clear the DTC information with a scan tool.

2. Observe the scan tool information. Verify that DTC P0602, P0603, P0604, P0605, P0606, P0610, P0614, P0630, P06D1, P161C, P167A, or P2610 do not fail this ignition cycle.

3. If DTC P0602, P0610, P0614, P0630, or P161C failed this ignition, reprogram the K20 ECM. Refer to Control Module References . If DTC P0602, P0610, P0614, P0630, or P161C resets, replace the K20 ECM.

4. If DTC P0603, P0604, P0605, P0606, P06D1, P167A, or P2610 failed this ignition, replace the K20 ECM.
