Circuit/System Description |
The DVD display seat headrest module contains infrared transmitters for the wireless headphones and the infrared receiver for the video system remote control. The audio that is sent over the DVD audio control circuits is a varying alternating voltage. The DVD seat headrest module processes the signal and transmits the audio signals to the headphones. If the display is in the closed position, the infrared signals will not be available for the operation of the wireless headphones and the remote control.

Circuit/System Verification |
Note | ||
Test or replace the headphone batteries before performing the circuit/system verification. |
1. |
Ignition ON, Radio ON, DVD playing, verify that the Rear Seat Entertainment System audio/video functions are working properly.
|
2. |
If the Rear Seat Entertainment System is inoperative, refer to
Video Entertainment System Malfunction
.
|
3. |
Turn ON the wireless headphones. Verify the power indicator lamp on the wireless headphone illuminates.
|
4. |
If the power indicator lamp does not illuminate, replace the wireless headphones.
|
5. |
Ignition ON, Radio ON, DVD playing, verify that each headphone is working properly.
|
6. |
If all of the headphones are inoperative, or the sound is distorted, refer to Circuit/System Testing.
|
7. |
If only one of the headphones is not producing sound, or the sound is distorted, replace the appropriate set of headphones.
|
Circuit/System Testing |
1. |
Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the left DVD display seat headrest.
|
2. |
Ignition OFF, scan tool disconnected, open driver door, wait five minutes, test for 20-25 Ω between the DVD audio low reference signal (-) circuits terminal 5 and ground.
|
3. |
If greater than the specified range, test the low reference (-) circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the A11 Radio.
|
4. |
Ignition ON, DVD playing with audio present, test for a varying voltage greater than 50 mV from 10-250 mV between the control circuits listed below and ground:
|
• |
Left DVD audio control (+) circuit terminal 6
|
• |
Right DVD audio control (-) circuit terminal 7
|
5. |
If not within specified interval, test the control circuit for short to voltage, short to ground, or an open circuit/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace radio A11.
|
6. |
If all circuits test normal, replace the headphones. If the headphones are still inoperative, replace the left DVD display seat headrest.
