1. Head-Up Display Switch Malfunction
|
Circuit/System Description |
The head-up display switch is a multiplexed switch. The head-up display provides the head-up display switch with a low reference. The switch input to the head-up display is pulled low when a switch is activated. The head-up display switch is a momentary contact switch that connects a series of resistors in a resistor ladder format. The head-up display determines the switch pressed by the voltage drop across the resistors. Each switch state PAGE, UP, DOWN corresponds to a certain resistance value.
Conditions for Running the DTC |
• |
The ignition is in OFF, ACCESSORY or RUN position.
|
• |
The system voltage is between 9-16 V.
|
Conditions for Setting the DTC |
B3619 02
The head-up display detects that the head-up display switch signal circuit is less than 900 mV.B3619 05
The head-up display detects that the head-up display switch signal circuit is greater than 4.3 V.B3619 61
The head-up display detects that the head-up display switch is stuck.Action Taken When the DTC Sets |
The head-up display ignores the head-up display switch inputs.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC |
The DTC will become history if the head-up display no longer detects a malfunction.

Circuit/System Verification |
1. |
Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Adjust Display Up Switch parameter, that when the S27 Head-Up Display Switch Up is pressed and released the scan tool parameter toggles between Active and Inactive.
|
2. |
Observe the scan tool Adjust Display Down Switch parameter, that when the S27 Head-Up Display Switch Down is pressed and released the scan tool parameter toggles between Active and Inactive.
|
3. |
Observe the scan tool Page Switch parameter, that when the S27 Head-Up Display Switch Page is pressed and released the scan tool parameter toggles between Active and Inactive.
|
Circuit/System Testing |
1. |
Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the S27 Head-Up Display Switch.
|
2. |
Test for less than 5 Ω between the low reference circuit terminal 1 and ground.
|
3. |
If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the P29 Head-Up Display.
|
4. |
Ignition ON, verify that all scan tool Head-Up Switch parameter are Undefined.
|
5. |
If any not Undefined, test the signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the P29 Head-Up Display.
|
6. |
Ignition ON, install a 604 Ω resistance between the signal circuit terminal 6 and the low reference circuit terminal 1. Verify the scan tool Page Switch parameter is Active.
|
7. |
If not Active, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the P29 Head-Up Display Module.
|
8. |
If all circuits test normal, test or replace the S27 Head-Up Display Switch.
|
Component Testing |
Static Test
1. |
Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the S27 Head-Up Display Switch.
|
2. |
Test for 8.8-9.3 kΩ between the signal terminal 6 and the low reference circuit terminal 1.
|
3. |
If not within the specified range, replace the S27 Head-Up Display Switch.
|
4. |
Test for 550-650 Ω between the signal terminal 6 and the low reference circuit terminal 1 while pressing the Page switch.
|
5. |
If not within the specified range, replace the S27 Head-Up Display Switch.
|
6. |
Test for 1.5-1.7 kΩ between the signal terminal 6 and the low reference circuit terminal 1 while pressing the Up switch.
|
7. |
If not within the specified range, replace the S27 Head-Up Display Switch.
|
8. |
Test for 3.3-3.7 kΩ between the signal terminal 6 and the low reference circuit terminal 1 while pressing the Down switch.
|
9. |
If not within the specified range, replace the S27 Head-Up Display Switch.
