Diagnostic Procedure Instructions provides an overview of each diagnostic category.

DTC Descriptor

DTC B252A 01

Driver Door Unlatch Enable Circuit Short to Battery

DTC B252B 01

Passenger Door Unlatch Enable Circuit Short to Battery

Circuit/System Description

The remote control door lock receiver receives a discrete input from the driver and passenger door open switch signal circuits. The driver window motor or driver window switch receives a discrete input from the driver door ajar switch signal circuit. The passenger window switch receives a discrete input from the passenger door ajar switch signal circuit. The door ajar switches are integrated in the lock unit of the respective door. When a door is opened, the normally open door open and door ajar switch closes. With the door open switch closed, ground is provided to the door open switch signal circuit. The window switches communicate the door ajar data via serial data communication with the remote control door lock receiver.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Battery voltage is between 9-16 V.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

B252A 01

The remote control door lock receiver detects a short to voltage on the driver door unlatch enable circuit for 30 s.

B252B 01

The remote control door lock receiver detects a short to voltage on the driver door unlatch enable circuit for 30 s.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The remote control door lock receiver ignores inputs from the exterior door handle switches.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

This DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.

When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.

A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the malfunctioning door latch assembly.

2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the control circuit terminal 5 and ground.

3. If the test lamp illuminates, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K77 Remote Control Door Lock Receiver.

4. Verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the control circuit terminal 10 and ground.

5. If the test lamp illuminates, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K77 Remote Control Door Lock Receiver.

6. If all circuits test normal, replace the door latch assembly.
