Catalytic Converter Replacement (LBY/A20DTR)



Callout Component Name

Preliminary Procedure

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Remove the engine shield. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement .

3. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .

4. Remove the exhaust temperature sensor. Refer to Exhaust Temperature Sensor Replacement - Position 1 (LBY/A20DTR) Exhaust Temperature Sensor Replacement - Position 1 (LBS/A20DTH) .

5. Remove the exhaust oxygen sensor. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement (LBY/A20DTR) Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement (LBS/A20DTH) .

6. Remove the exhaust heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Heat Shield Replacement (LBY/A20DTR) Exhaust Heat Shield Replacement (LBS/A20DTH) .

Catalytic Converter Fastener (Qty: 3)

Warning

The exhaust temperature sensor and exhaust pressure differential sensor line fittings may be difficult to remove when the engine exhaust system temperature is below 48°C (120°F). Excessive force may damage the threads in the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipe.


Refer to Fastener Caution .

Procedure

Release the catalytic converter to exhaust pipe fasteners.

Tighten

22 Nm (16 lb ft)

Catalytic Converter Securing Fasteners (Qty: 2)

Procedure

Release the converter to bracket fasteners.

Tighten

20 Nm (15 lb ft)

Catalytic Converter Exhaust Manifold Clamp

Tighten

25 Nm (18 lb ft)
