Front Wheelhouse Front Panel Replacement

Removal Procedure

Refer to Approved Equipment for Collision Repair Warning .

Refer to Glass and Sheet Metal Handling Warning .


1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

3. Remove all related panels and components.

4. Remove the front compartment upper side rail. Refer to Front Compartment Upper Side Rail Sectioning .

5. Remove the headlamp mount panel. Refer to Headlamp Mount Panel Replacement .

6. Remove the front wheelhouse panel reinforcement. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Panel Reinforcement Replacement .

7. Visually inspect the damage. Repair as much of the damage as possible. Refer to Dimensions - Body .

8. Remove the sealers and anti-corrosion materials from the repair area, as necessary. Refer to Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair (Base) Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair (Corrosion Protection) .

Note

Do not damage any inner panels or reinforcements.


Locate and mark all the necessary factory welds of the front wheelhouse front panel.


10. Drill all factory welds (1). Note the number and location of welds for installation of the service assembly.

11. Remove the front wheelhouse panel inner brace.

Do not damage any inner panels or reinforcements.


Locate and mark all the necessary factory welds of the front wheelhouse front panel.


13. Drill all factory welds. Note the number and location of welds for installation of the service assembly.

14. Remove the front wheelhouse front panel.



Installation Procedure


1.
Note

Refer SPP, PSO welding parameters for resistance spot welding. See TIS Newsletter for equipment recommendations.


Clean and prepare the attaching surfaces for welding.


2. Apply bodywork repair through structural adhesive to body (1). Refer to Structural Adhesive Body Repairs .

3. Position the front wheelhouse front panel on the vehicle.


4. Verify the fit of the front wheelhouse front panel.

5. Clamp the front wheelhouse front panel into position.

Note

Note the number and location of the welds for installations of the service part.

Drill out the necessary factory welds from the inner side of the service part.


Separate the new front wheelhouse panel inner brace.


7. Drill out the necessary factory welds (1).

8. Position the front wheelhouse panel inner brace and the front wheelhouse panel reinforcement on the vehicle.


9. Verify the fit of the front wheelhouse panel inner brace and the front wheelhouse panel reinforcement.

10. Clamp the front wheelhouse panel inner brace and the front wheelhouse panel reinforcement into position.

Note

Refer to Welded, Brazed, and Riveted Joint Specifications .


Spot weld (1) the front wheelhouse front panel accordingly.


12. Apply the sealers and anti-corrosion materials to the repair area, as necessary. Refer to Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair (Base) Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair (Corrosion Protection) .

13. Install all related panels and components.

14. Install the front wheelhouse panel reinforcement. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Panel Reinforcement Replacement .

15. Install the headlamp mount panel. Refer to Headlamp Mount Panel Replacement .

16. Install the front compartment upper side rail. Refer to Front Compartment Upper Side Rail Sectioning .

17. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

18. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
