1. License Plate Lamps Always ON |
Circuit/System Description |
The headlamp switch is supplied with ground at all times. When the headlamp switch is placed in either the park or low beam position, the BCM responds by applying battery voltage to the license plate lamp control circuit. This energizes the left and right license lamp.
Conditions for Running the DTC |
Headlamp switch in park or low beam position.
Conditions for Setting the DTC |
B3883 02
The BCM detects a short to ground on the license plate lamp control circuit.B3883 04
The BCM detects an open /high resistance on the license plate lamp control circuit.Action Taken When the DTC Sets |
The license plate lamps will be inoperative.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC |
• |
The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.
|
• |
When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.
|
• |
A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Verification |
Ignition ON, command the License Plate Lamps ON and OFF with a scan tool. The license plate lamps should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.
Circuit/System Testing |
1. |
Ignition OFF, disconnect the X902 inline harness connector.
|
2. |
Test for less than 10 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 15 and ground.
|
3. |
If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
|
4. |
Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 1 and ground.
|
5. |
Ignition ON, command the License Plate Lamps ON and OFF with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the selected states.
|
6. |
If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
|
7. |
If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
|
8. |
If all circuits test normal, test or replace the E7L license plate lamp-left or E7R license plate lamp-right.
|
