Circuit/System Verification
Install a 12 V DC accessory into a X80 accessory power receptacle. Ignition ON, command the Accessory/Retained Accessory Power Relay Command ON and OFF with a scan tool. The KR76 relay for retained accessory current should click and the 12 V DC accessory should have power.
Accessory Power Receptacle Center Console or Instrument Panel
1.
Switch off the ignition and disconnect the KR76 relay for the retained accessory current.
2.
Test for less than 10 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 86 and ground.
3.
If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
4.
Verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the control circuit terminal 30 and ground.
5.
If the test lamp illuminates, test the control circuit for a short to voltage.
6.
Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the control circuit terminal 85 and ground.
7.
If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If all circuits test normal, replace the K9 BCM.
8.
Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 87 and ground.
9.
If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the B+ circuit fuse is open, test the control circuit terminal 30 for a short to ground.
10.
Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at an inoperative X80 accessory power receptacle.
11.
Test for less than 10 Ω between the X80 accessory power receptacle ground circuit terminal C and ground.
12.
If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
13.
Connect the harness connector at the X80 accessory power receptacle.
14.
Connect a 20 A fused jumper wire between the K76 relay for retained accessory current B+ circuit terminal 87 and the control circuit terminal 30. Verify the 12 V DC accessory receptacle has power.
15.
If the 12 V DC does not have power, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the X80 accessory power receptacle.
16.
If all circuits give normal test values test or replace KR76 relay for retained accessory current.
Accessory Power Receptacle Rear Compartment
1.
Disconnect the harness at the X80R accessory power receptacle-rear compartment.
2.
Test for less than 10 Ω between the ground circuit terminal C and ground.
3.
If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
4.
Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal A and ground.
5.
If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for an open/high resistance or a short to ground.
6.
If all circuits test normal, replace the X80R accessory power receptacle - luggage compartment.
Relay Test
1.
Switch off the ignition and disconnect the KR76 relay for the retained accessory current.
2.
Test for 60-180 Ω between terminals 85 and 86.
3.
If not within the specified range, replace the relay.
4.
Test for infinite resistance between the following terminals:
5.
If not the specified value, replace the relay.
6.
Install a 20 A fused jumper wire between relay terminal 85 and 12 V. Install a jumper wire between relay terminal 86 and ground. Test for less than 2 Ω between terminals 30 and 87.
7.
If greater than specified range, replace the relay.
