Circuit/System Description

The keyless entry control module supplies a 12V signal to the left rear and right rear exterior door handle switches. When the door handle is activated, the switch closes and the voltage signal from the keyless entry control module are pulled to ground, this input allows the keyless entry control module to detect a door open request.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Battery voltage is between 9-16 V.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

B1534 02

The passive entry feature will be inoperative for the left rear door and the left rear door will not open unless the door is first unlocked by pressing the appropriate button on the keyless entry transmitter.

B1535 02

The keyless entry control module detects the right rear exterior door handle switch signal circuit is shorted to ground or closed for greater than 60 seconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

B1534 02

The passive entry feature will be inoperative for the left rear door and the left rear door will not open unless the door is first unlocked by pressing the appropriate button on the keyless entry transmitter.

B1535 02

The passive entry feature will be inoperative for the right rear door and the right rear door will not open unless the door is first unlocked by pressing the appropriate button on the keyless entry transmitter.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.

When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.

A history DTC will clear after 40 ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Verification

1. Ignition ON, observe the scan tool parameter for the rear left door exterior handle switch whilst pulling and releasing the B27LR switch. The parameter should change between Active and Inactive

2. If the value is always Inactive or always Active, refer to Left rear Exterior Door Handle Inoperative.

3. Ignition ON, observe the scan tool parameter for the rear right door exterior handle switch whilst pulling and releasing the B27RR switch. The parameter should change between Active and Inactive.

4. If the value is always Inactive or always Active, refer to Right Rear Exterior Door Handle Inoperative.

Circuit/System Testing

Left Rear Exterior Door Handle Inoperative

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the B27LR door handle switch-left rear exterior.

2. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Exterior Left Rear Door Handle Switch parameter is Inactive.

3. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 2 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K84 keyless entry control module.

4. Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 2 and ground. Verify the scan tool Exterior Left Rear Door Handle Switch parameter is Active.

5. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 2 for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K84 keyless entry control module.

6. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the B27LR door handle switch-left rear exterior.

Right Rear Exterior Door Handle Inoperative

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the B27RR door handle switch-right rear exterior.

2. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Exterior Right Rear Door Handle Switch parameter is Inactive.

3. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 2 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K84 keyless entry control module.

4. Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 2 and ground. Verify the scan tool Exterior Right Rear Door Handle Switch parameter is Active.

5. If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 2 for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K84 keyless entry control module.

6. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the B27RR door handle switch-right rear exterior.

Component Testing

Rear Door Handle Switch

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate B27 Door Handle Switch - Rear.

2. With the switch in the open position, test for infinite resistance between the signal terminal 2 and the ground terminal 1.

3. If not the specified value, replace the B27 Door Handle Switch - Rear.

4. With the switch in the closed position, test for less than 5 Ω between the signal terminal 2 and the ground terminal 1

5. If greater than the specified range, replace the B27 Door Handle Switch - Rear.
