1. Power Door Unlatch Inoperative |
Circuit/System Description |
The signal circuit to the driver's door exterior door handle switch sends a signal to keyless entry control module when the driver's door handle is activated. With this input, the keyless entry control module can detect a door open request. The keyless entry control module sends a signal voltage to the driver's door handle switch via the signal circuit. When the driver's door handle is activated, the switch makes and the voltage signal from the keyless entry control module switches to ground.
Conditions for Running the DTC |
Battery voltage is between 9-16 V.
Conditions for Setting the DTC |
The keyless entry control module detects the driver exterior door handle switch signal circuit is shorted to ground or closed for greater than 180 s.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets |
The driver's door does not open when you pull the exterior handle, unless the door is first unlocked.
The driver's door exterior handle will not send an unlock signal if the vehicle is locked.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC |
• |
The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.
|
• |
When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.
|
• |
A history DTC will clear after 40 ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Verification |
Ignition ON, observe the scan tool parameter for the driver door exterior handle switch whilst pulling and releasing the B27A switch. The parameter should change between Active and Inactive each time you pull and release the handle.
Circuit/System Testing |
1. |
Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the B27A door handle switch - driver exterior.
|
2. |
Test for less than 5 Ω between the ground circuit pin 1 and ground.
|
3. |
If not the specified value, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
|
4. |
Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Exterior Driver Door Handle Switch parameter is Inactive.
|
5. |
If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 2 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K84 keyless entry control module.
|
6. |
Connect a jumper cable fuse-protected with 3 A between the signal circuit pin 2 and ground circuit pin 1. Check on the diagnostic tool that the parameter for the driver's door exterior handle switch is Active.
|
7. |
If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 2 for a short to voltage or open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K84 keyless entry control module.
|
8. |
If all circuits test normal, test or replace the B27A door handle switch - driver exterior.
|
Component Testing |
Static Test
1. |
Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the B27A door handle switch - driver exterior.
|
2. |
With the switch in the open position, test for infinite resistance between the signal terminal 2 and the ground terminal 1.
|
3. |
If not the specified value, replace the B27A door handle switch - driver exterior.
|
4. |
With the switch in the closed position, test for less than 5 Ω between the signal terminal 2 and the ground terminal 1
|
5. |
If greater than the specified range, replace the B27A door handle switch - driver exterior.
